The Concept
In December of 2002
Richard Anderson, President of Motorsports Ministries, and Daniel Lacy, Chaplain with Motorsports Ministries, put together a plan to promote and operate a kart camp geared toward reaching At-Risk-Kids (ARKs). The outline was simple enough; put 20 kids (ages 12-15) in go-karts for 4 hours each day, teach them some mechanical skills through hands on engine assembly, play various ball sports in our "down time," house and feed them for 4 days and get a speaker to challenge the kids with the Word of God. Oh, and make it free for the kids who attend!
With only the vision in hand, Richard and Daniel considered the dream of
bringing auto racing and inner-city kids together. Through the course of the next 8 months, the concept did not change but rather gained momentum as more
individuals desired to see ARKs reached for the Lord through auto racing. Today the vision is brighter and clearer than ever. Now the goal is to expand
the ministry to ARKs throughout the United States, but we can not do it alone. Will you catch the vision with us? |
